Just about half way though my beauty alphabet. This month make-up brands beginning with L…
Who Are They? Based in Germany’s Deister mountains, Lavera was established in 1987 by Thomas Haase after battling incredibly sensitive skin throughout his life.
Eco-Credentials: NATRUE certified, many of the products are suitable for vegans, 100% natural and organic ingredients. No parabens, SLS, phtalates, parraffinium, or petrochemicals.
The Products: Lavera have a pretty extensive range of make-up products for a green beauty brand, which encompasses everything from foundation to lipgloss. As with most European brands the base products (concealer, foundation, powder etc) are unfortunately focused on lighter skin tones, however the rest of the ranges is pretty universal.
Favourite Products: The soft lip liners and brow gels are my favourites from the range. They also do a selection of mascaras which give a variety of finishes; plus the light concealer is one I use in my own make-up bag.
Who Are They? Created over ten years ago, Lily Lolo are a UK brand who have taken the green beauty world by storm (at least the British end of it).
Eco-Credentials: Mineral make-up, Free from bismuth and other cheap fillers/irritants, 90% of our products are vegan friendly, carry BUAV approval.
The Products: Lily Lolo have pretty much everything covered, from bases to lips (although not a vast selection there are some base shades suited to medium skin tones). The range of products has grown a lot in the past year or two; what was purely a loose minerals line now has a fabulous range of palettes and pressed powders.
Favourite Products: I love the lip glosses and the loose eyeshadows are great too. I haven’t actually tried any of the pressed palettes but they are highly thought of amongst other green make-up Artists I know.
Who Are They? Founded in 1987 by Suzanne Hall, who was inspired by the healing properties of New Zealand native plants to remedy her own skin conditions.
Eco-Credentials: BDIH and Cosmos certified, cruelty free, some vegan products.
The Products: As with Lavera, Living Nature covers all the bases in terms of products and also as with their German counterparts the range of shades for darker skin tones is non existent, thats said, the colours they do have are lovely; nature based shade which are both flattering and timeless.
Favourite Products: I love the Liquid foundation and cream concealer and if you have read my post on them you will know I am a massive fan of the carmine free red lipsticks Wild Fire and Pure Passion.
