From The Vault: AS.Apothecary Cleansing Oil

My personal skincare routine underwent a transformation a few years ago. From a pretty traditional regime that involved using cleansing lotions and creams to remove make-up and clean away the daily grime followed by a traditional cream-based moisturiser, I am now very much about the oils…

A beautifully light formulation, AS. Apothecary Soothing & Restorative Cleansing Oil #5(£39.00) is created using a blend of botanical and essential oils. Borage, Calendula and Rosehip restore moisture and repair dry, damaged skin, whilst soothing Jojoba regulates sebum production and helps to reduce pore size. Vitamin E is one of natures healing tools and is an effective antioxidant.

The Cleansing Oil is not only designed to cleanse the face but to help cleanse the soul with its warm, comforting scent. The beautiful aroma contains many elements: the herbal warmth of Labdanum oil is calming and hydrating rose oil; uplifting Bergamot is a effective antiseptic; Clary Sage regenerates and stimulates whilst Benzoin relaxes and calms. AS. Apothecary provide a clearly written small batch report on each product on their website, so you can find out more about the provenance of the plants used in a specific product, how it is harvested, distilled and much, much more. Below is the Small Batch Report for the Cleansing Oil #5.

Ingredients aside, it does a fabulous job of removing everyday grime and impurities and light work of make-up (including mascara). Super easy to use, simply massage a few drops gently into the face and neck then (after a minute or two) remove with the cleansing cloth and warm water. My skin was left feeling beautifully hydrated and soft, a feeling that carried over into the following day – I have also had it on good authority that a few drops in the bath make for super soft skin too!

The beautiful hand crocheted mini cotton face cloth which accompanied the oil didn’t get used to aid removal as my daughter absconded with it in order to use it as bedding for one of her smaller baby dinosaurs (what else?!), consequently I am unable to comment on it’s effectiveness. If you did manage to use the cleansing cloth then please let me know if it was as lovely as it looked… :)

Unlike facial oils, I haven’t tried that many designed to cleanse however it is definitely my choice of those I have given a go and will certainly be investing in a full sized bottle on my next visit to Content.

To be honest I had totally forgotten how much I loved this cleansing oil! I did repurchase at the time but haven’t since, but not for any reason beyond having the opportunity to try a variety of products in the mean time. I would definitely purchase this oil again in the future.
