Top Five: Tropical Blush

Blusher is big this Spring and I mean BIG! The spring 2017 catwalks were awash with extreme blusher. Although many were pretty wearable,  you may not feel the desire to go all New Romantic this spring (check out Lynsey Alexander’s Glamazon designs for Kenzo) but they can certainly give food for thought…

Inspired by February’s launch of the beautiful Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2017 Tropical Spring Collection (the campaign poster is pictured above – I’m loving the technicolor look on this), this weeks Top Five is all about Tropical Blush. Vibrant and flamboyant shades which inject a bit of colour and bring a little bit of paradise to your make-up.

Here are my Top Five suggestions for a tropical blush…

Adrenaline – Au Naturale Creme Blusher ($32.00) (V,GF)

This is the only blush that I haven’t tried from this line-up but I am super tempted to invest in one (or two). A beautiful, vivid pink with magenta undertones. This creme blush is 100% natural and if you haven’t come across them as yet, Au Naturale are a US brand formulated without parabens, fillers, animal by-products or synthetic preservatives.

Above & Beyond – Kjaer Weis Cream Blush (£41.00/£24.00) (GF)

This is one of the few KW cream blushes which I don’t own (although I’ve swatched it in-store many times) but I think I’m definitely missing out. A highly pigmented coral red shade which is perfect for creating a tropical healthy glow on mid to dark skin tones. I also wanted to include Happy and Joyful from the collection but three from the same brand may be cheating a little… ;)

Bubblegum – English Mineral Make-up Company (£25.00) (V)

You may remember I wrote about The English Mineral Make-up Company when I discovered it midway through last year. I loved the products in the range and the blusher certainly doesn’t disappoint. Bubblegum is a fun, brightening pink more suited to light to medium toned skins. It has a lovely matte finish and a little goes a long way!

Beloved – RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek (£28.00)

We all love a Lip2Cheek and this one fits the fill perfectly. An relatively sheer but eye-catching true red with just a hint of poppy, on first glance it seems more suited as a lip colour than a blush but give it a whirl and you will find it gives a beautiful heathy glow that suits all skin tones.
Pink Harmony – Lavera So Fresh Mineral Rouge (£12.90)

My budget buy this time around is at the upper end of what I generally consider low budget however it is a fabulous shade. A bright pink powder blush with a soft shimmer, it is super pigmented so you need a light touch to avoid overdoing it!

With this selection I’m totally feeling the love for a bright blusher. Are you going to be rocking a tropical blush this spring?
