Today marks the first day of the Chinese New Year and it is now officially the Year of the Monkey. Red is the lucky colour for 2016 and with Valentine’s Day also on the horizon, it seems apt that for this Top Five post I should focus on a red lip.
There are many variations on the the red lip out there but for the purposes of this post I am focusing on proper reds, not deep reds, plums or corals but proper reds; one’s which hark of Hollywood glamour and 1950’s pin-ups.
Here are my top five natural and organic red lipsticks…
Pomegranate Luminous Créme Lipstick from Bite Beauty ($24.00)
Pomegranate is a beautiful bold lipstick. A glossy cherry red shade with a slight blue undertone, it has a rich and creamy finish which is long lasting. The embossed bullets are a please to look at
Deep Red #263 from Couleur Caramel (£15.00)
This was probably the first red lipstick I fell for when I began green-ing up my kit and it is one that I have replaced numerous times. A beautiful matte finish which is long lasting and looks amazing on camera!
Wild Child from Ilia Beauty (£22.00)
A warm and vivid fiery red that suits pretty much everyone (that I have tried at least). I gave this a lot of love in a post last year and it still remains one of the favourites in my lip palette. Wild Child has a glossy finish that sits quite sheerly on the lip.
Part of the Emotional Brilliance range, Ambition is a liquid lipstick that really packs a punch. A pillar-box red with a super glossy, high sheen finish, Ambition is long lasting and despite being a liquid colour doesn’t dry out the lips – bonus!
Classic Red from Zuii Organic ($29.95)
Classic Red is just that. Classic. A flattering, bright cherry red shade which oozes sophistication and glamour. Zuii lipsticks have pretty good staying power and are rich in Jojoba oil, caster and sunflower oils along with Aloe Vera for nourishing, soothing coverage.

So glad to see you love the Couleur Caramel lipsticks! Deep Red is such a gorgeous colour!
Hey there,
Yes, Couleur Caramel (in fact Elysambre but the formula is identical) were my first organic lipstick love and I still adore them. Great range of shades too :)
