Top Five: Liquid Lipsticks

The newest kid on the lip colour block is liquid Lipstick. In short a these tubes of colour have all the pigment you’d expect of a traditional bullet style lippy but the texture and slip of a gloss and the staying power of a stain. They are quite literally liquid lipsticks.

One of the great thing about Liquid Lipsticks is that they are pretty much a one-coat deal. You don’t need to apply more than one coat unless you want your lips to really pack a punch and in the majority of cases more than one coat can lead to room much slip on your lips – making it a messy affair.

If a liquid lip has caught your eye and you want to give it a whirl (without all the nasties) then here are my Top Five liquid lipsticks…

Juice Beauty Photo Pigmnts Liquid Lip (£28.00) (V, GF)

Named after Juice Beauty’s Creative Director Ms Paltrow and some of her nearest and dearest, the eight vibrant shades are stunning. Formulated with plant-derived Phyto-Pigments combined with cold-pressed oils and a fruit stem cell serum, these non-drying tubes of colour are definitely worth a try.

100% Pure Lip Caramel (£20.00) (V,GF)

These brightly coloured tube are available in ten eye catching shades, created using fruit pigments and botanical extracts. I haven’t actually tried these lipsticks but my research tells me they have a super glossy finish and smell of caramel – if that floats your boat…

Studio 78 Paris Let’s Get Married (£8-21.00) (O, V)

The only certified organic product in this line-up and one of the first eco liquid lipsticks I tried. Let’s Get Married is a highly pigmented, long-lasting lip colour in six flattering shades all with wedding themed names. Studio 78 Paris products seem to be hard to come by in the UK at the moment and the range is on offer in many European stores so you may have to shop around to get the shade you want. With this lack of availability in mind, I hope the end hasn’t been spelt for this lovely brand.

OCC Lip Tar (£12.50.00) (V, GF)

The original Liquid Lipstick. Lip Tar’s have been about since 2009! I love these pigment rich tubes (as does pretty much every other Make-up Artist I Know) and always have a few in my pro kit . Free from Synthetic Preservatives and silicone and a heap of other nasties. There are 46 shade to choose from, so Lip Tars are great if you want to get creative with colour!

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick (£tbc…)

My fifth liquid lipstick is a little bit of a cheat as it has yet to be released but given my love for the rest of the range then I have high hopes that it will be as much of a hit. Liquified Lipstick will be available in twelve high impact shades and no doubt packed full of the same beneficial ingredients as their bullet sisters. If you want a sneaky peek than watch the fab colour montages on the Bite website.

Have you tried liquid lipstick?
