Despite the somewhat sporadic summer we are having, the annual trend for bright lips remains steadfast and I have found myself turning to the more vibrant shades in my kit.
In terms of lipsticks, Ilia Beauty are one of my favourite natural beauty brands; they have a fabulous array of shades and formulations which are not only modern but cover all the bases when it comes to personal style – from nudes to purples.
Wild Child is one of my more recent Ilia purchases. It was one of those products that became a must have on sight; one play in-store in Content and I was hooked – not just by the name!
Recently on a shoot for a health charity, I chose Wild Child for one of the models who was appearing in the commercial. The real model (ie a normal person not a professional model) was a lady in her late forties of South Asian origin. We agreed that a brighter lipstick would be preferable to a nude as she would usually wear quite a strong lip – plus I didn’t want all the female models being carbon copies of one another! Wild Child not only complemented her colouring (and outfit) but it gave an understated sense of glamour, however the sheer finish ensured that she didn’t look overly made up.
*Contrary to popular belief, fair skinned individuals can carry off an orange toned red too – just pick the right one.
