The recent stint of sun has meant it’s time to swap my much loved Madara Tinting Fluid for something with a little more in the way of protection. I’m not a year-round SPF wearer but use it on a daily basis from late spring though to mid autumn (give or take a few weeks). In previous years I have used Balance Me BB Skin Perfection and Juice Beauty CC Cream, both of which I really liked but for one reason or another they weren’t perfect. The hunt began…
I have to admit that I first tried a couple of sample sachets of the Green People Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser SPF15 (£36.00) two or three years ago but didn’t feel the love, so am more than a little embarrassed to admit that when I received the collection a few months ago I didn’t immediately rush to open the bottles.
Fast forward to the distinct improvement in the British weather and the afore mentioned need to change products, I thought I’d give it another go. Now I’m not sure if it’s been slightly reformulated or my skin has simply changed in some way but all I can say is that I bloody love this stuff!
Before I begin to eulogise I should probably clear up one big question; What on earth is a DD cream?
Daily Defence (or less commonly Dynamic Do-All) creams first gained popularity in Korea a few years ago. Similar in texture to a BB cream (usually), they have the added bonus of an SPF plus usually a few other bells and whistles which vary from brand to brand.
Green People Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser is the first certified organic DD Cream in the UK. Although a moisturiser in name, I personally wouldn’t use it as a stand alone moisturiser. I would nearly always recommend applying your regular moisturising product before you apply this as (and I would say this about pretty much any BB/CC/DD cream not just this one) I don’t feel the moisturising properties would be enough for the majority of people, especially if you have a drier or more mature skin type. Each to their own however.
The Green People DD Cream gives SPF15 broad spectrum protection (titanium dioxide based) so protects against UVA and UVB rays. It’s worth mentioning here that this is not enough protection to forgo applying an additional, higher SPF if you have very fair skin, during the summer months or when holidaying but for most people it’s enough coverage for daily use much of the year; if you know you need more protection from the sun, then add it!
The Age Defying aspect of the cream comes in the form of plant stem cell technology from Sea Fennel. The stem cells stimulate skin cell renewal, firming and brightening your skin and can reduce the appearance of age spots as well as delivering an instant moisture infusion. I haven’t used it long enough to notice the clock turning back but if I just keep on applying it, who knows…. ;)

Top to Bottom: Ivory, Light, Medium
There are currently only three shades available, sadly only suited to fairer skin tones; Ivory is perfect for very fair and porcelain skins; Light is slightly darker and best suited for fair skins, whilst medium is aimed at those with medium toned skin. I have mostly been using Light which is very slightly deeper than my skin tone so gives me a touch of colour whilst still looking natural. It does oxidise vey slightly with the warmth of the skin but not enough to be hugely noticeable for the most part.
The overall finish is relatively sheer and dewy but the coverage is pretty good; it evens out skin tone and covers most minor blemishes with a single coat. If you want a little extra coverage in places then you can build up in areas of concern.

I’m wearing Green People Age Defy+ Tinted DD Moisturiser in Light with Tata Harper Volumising Tint in Very Naughty, Lavera Hazel Brow Gel and Green People Mascara in Black
The airless pump bottle means it’s easy to get the right amount on the back of your hand. I like to apply it with my fingers so I can work it into the skin in the desired areas but it works equally well with a brush – although I suggest a buffing brush or dual fibre brush with synthetic bristles rather than a foundation brush as they absorb less product and give a better finish with this particular cream.
If you have mature skin and are reasonably fair and haven’t given this a go then I thoroughly recommend you give it a whirl and see how you get on.
Have you tried it yet?
