From The Vault: Zuii Organic Flora Eyeshadow in Jade

This post From The Vault seemed from a fun Halloween make-up post I did four years ago. The Pantone Colour of the Year for 2013 was Emerald so this was the perfect colour and coincidentally it works beautifully for Greenery, this years celebrated colour too.

Zuii Organic Flora Eyeshadow in Jade ($21.75 AUD) is a beautiful, bright green and not a bad choice for those of you wishing to live the Pantone Colour of the Year 2013 dream.

Applied neat it gives a wash of a pale green sheen across the skin but layered over a cream shadow or eye primer then Jade really comes into its own. A vibrant shade with a slight gold metallic undertone, it is bright and zingy and although it looks great on its own, it works best when used with other colours; adding an extra dimension to an otherwise sultry smokey make-up or pepping up a fun multi tonal eye.

The texture of the shadow is fine and feels quite velvety, in part due to the absence of talc which is commonly used as a filler to bulk out many products and can have the knock-on effect of a slight chalkiness. Produced using flowers (the clue is in the name) and plant based extracts, the eyeshadow is also free from parabens, SLS, petrochemicals, genetically modified ingredients, synthetic substances and fragrances.

One of thirty shades in the Zuii collection, I purchased a sample set of fifteen shadows which came in the form of little sachets of loose powder eyeshadow, however buy it individually and you will received a standard unpressed shadow. I loved this shadow as a loose powder so it would be interesting to see how it stands up in pressed form; having only recently purchased the samples I haven’t had a chance to see how the shadow performs in a work capacity.

To be honest I haven’t invested in the full sized pressed shadows despite having liked them at the time of originally writing.

Although it was great to try a brand which I hadn’t really tried before and the sample sets are a great idea, I haven’t come across a supplier in the UK since The Macrobiotic Shop stopped selling the range.

I try to keep my carbon footprint as low as possible and don’t want to order products from the other side of the world unless absolutely necessary. The brands I have in my kit are all readily available in the UK and Western Europe or can be easily purchased by friends and relatives visiting from or holidaying overseas.

Have you tried these eyeshadows or any of the Zuii range?
