From The Vault: Dr Bronners Hand Sanitiser

This months one from the vault is a product that I always buy in bulk but I am probably bordering on obsessed…

Dr Bronner’s Hand Sanitiser (£4.49) is one that you can feel may really be stopping bacteria in its tracks. Obviously I can’t do the science-y bit and measure the amount of bacteria inhabiting my hands before or after using the spray, but a couple of quick squirts does make my mitts feel fresh and clean.

I love a product that only has minimal ingredients and this has just four, three quarters of which are organic and certified Fair Trade; the fourth being water. The anti-bacterial properties in the spray come primarily from the Ethyl Alcohol. Fairly traded, the medical grade alcohol used in the spray is produced from sugar cane that has been traditionally farmed in the hillsides of Ecuador.

The hand sanitiser contains pure organic essential oil, which smells beautiful. This all sounds great I know but there is a But. As much as I personally liked the lavender scent, it is in all honesty a little too overpowering and lingering for me to use on my hands between artists. Waste not, want not however, it has now taken up residence in my own bag.

When I wrote this post originally I thought that the scent was a little overpowering however over time I have reviewed my opinion and have to say that this is now my sanitiser of choice. The alcohol scent subsides after a few moments and a gentle, calming Lavender aroma on your hands – perfect for subtly whafting in front of talent (especially if slightly anxious prior to going onset!).

Hand sanitiser is an essential component of the pro kit; Ensuring my hands are clean before and after a make-up is vital, so I have one in pretty much every make-up bag I own – It’s safe to say I am obsessed with the stuff!

Dr Bronner’s Lavender Hand Sanitiser has become much loved by presenters and guests I work with on a regular basis, along with some of the crew I work alongside (one even asks me to pick up a few bottles each christmas for stocking fillers for his wife and daughters [who also love it I might add]!). I think every one of my team now has a bottle in their bag too, so I’m spreading the love…
