Weleda Tinted Lip Balm – Berry Red » Organic Makeup Artist

As you know I am a huge fan of Weleda. They do a fabulous range of skin, health and body care products which are formulated using biodynamtically grown ingredients; many of which are mainstays of my kit and also feature heavily in mine and my family’s routines.

Earlier this year Weleda launched their Tinted Lip Balms (£6.95) and they caused a bit of a sir amongst the green beauty community. It is fabulous that Weleda have dipped their toe into the world of colour cosmetics and introduced some colour to their already extensive range.

Weleda released three tinted balms: Nude, Rose and Berry. All three shades feel lovely on the lip but Berry Red is by far and away my favourite in terms of colour and I think the most wearable of the three. I consider it a deep toned nude which leaves a hint of berry-toned colour and a soft sheen to the lips. It’s the kind of bitten lip shade which enhances the natural colour of the lips, making it an ideal choice for barely there make-up’s

The colour and sheen are created using nature-identical pigments (synthetic pigments produced in the factory which replicate natural minerals). There are a number of reasons for this: it ensures quality and consistency of the colour; avoids potential heavy metal contaminants and given the lack of regulation at source in the mineral mining industry, it also ensures the company’s ethics are maintained.

Like all three of the lip balms, Berry Red feels great in the lip. There is no residual stickiness and it goes on like a dream. Cold-pressed plant oils have been blended with protective vegetable waxes, organic shea butter and organic jojoba oil to create a product that not only nourishes your lips but also protects and soothes.
