Essential Care Mineral Mascara in Brown

Recently I have become more than a little obsessed with the W3ll People Expressionist mascaras. I love them and they have become a staple in both my personal and pro make-up bags. The problem with being obsessed with something is that everything else goes out of the window and previous frequently used products are more often than not overlooked. More fool me!

On a recent shoot I was making employees of the company concerned camera ready. This essentially means using minimal make-up to subtly enhancing features, reduce shine, camouflage shadows and blemishes and generally tidying them up; nothing too much or too complex.

One particular woman had very blonde hair and wore little to no make-up. To ensure her eyes wouldn’t be lost I decided to use a little brown mascara which would define the lash line but wouldn’t be out of place on a barely there make-up.

Essential Care Mineral Mascara (£17.50) is a super lightweight formulation which lengthens, lifts and defines the lashes whilst leaving them with a very natural looking finish. It is fast drying, easy to remove and doesn’t clump, clog or smudge – even with a little eye rubbing!

Certified organic by the Soil Association, Essential Care mascara is rich in lash conditioning plant extracts such as aloe vera and calendula. The brown colour (which appears quite bright brown in the tube but natural on the lash) is created using mineral pigments.

The bristle brush is fabulous, although probably now considered old school; it’s bushy rather than one of those new fangled silicone types. Fans of a highly volumised or gloopy lash will be sorely disappointed as this particular mascara doesn’t contain the bulking fibres which add volume and create the false lash look, however it can be worked into the base of the lashes to give the illusion of an invisible eyeliner.

I am so pleased I had the opportunity to use this mascara again – I can’t wait until the next time!!
