Couleur Caramel Liquid Liner

From an elegant Cat eye flick to sharp graphic lines a lá …. Black eyeliner never goes out of fashion.  A product that has been around in one form or another for over 12,000 years and worn regardless of status or gender, black liner is one of those all time classics.

Couleur Caramel Eye Liner (£16.00) one of my favourite liquid liners and is usually the first one I reach for when I’m on a shoot (I have a few in my kit). The black is beautifully deep and inky. The liner dries totally matte so there is no shine or glossiness which looks good on camera and screen; perfect for period work as well as beauty (I’ve also used it for tattoo make-up too)!

The formulation is just right; not too watery or gloopy and it doesn’t easily move if rubbed however not being waterproof any moisture (i.e rubbing your eyes in the rain or will result in a bit of smudging or smearing.

The liner is housed in a small 4ml pot with a long handle which is just the right length for a comfortable hold. The tapered brush (should you choose to use it directly) can be easily angled to create lines of varying depths and lengths; I usually decant onto the back of my hand and apply with a separate liner brush.

A little cracking can occur on drying (not unusual with liquid liners) however this isn’t usually particularly noticeable in everyday life – usually only on camera in close ups. As with any line, cracking can be rectified or prevented easily with either a streak of black pencil before application or a run of black shadow on an angle or liner brush on top of the liquid liner.
