Agave Lip Mask – Bite Beauty

Winter is fast approaching and with it the inevitable; chapped lips. My lips suffer every year and so I am always looking for ways in which to protect, prevent and on occasion, cure…

Agave Lip Mask from Bite Beauty ($26.00) is a leave-on lip mask that nourishes, smooths and hydrates the lips.

Formulated using a blend of organic oils and waxes and organic Agave Nectar. infused with Bite Beauty’s hero ingredient Trans-resveratrol (one of the molecule structures of resveratrol). It is a powerful antioxidant which allegedly provides antioxidant benefits equivalent to 15 glasses of red wine!

Agave Lip Mask has a super thick consistency and it takes a bit of squeezing to get some out of the tube (especially if its cold). You only need the tiniest amount, which given the price tag (approximately £16.50) is a bit of a blessing because as lip masks go it isn’t the cheapest. First time out of the tube I squeezed out a pea sized amount and then spent the next few minutes putting it on every pair of lips in the room (three other pairs) and there was still enough to rub into the back of my hand! Lesson learnt.

The mask goes onto the lip easily and without drag, almost melting into the lips delicate skin as you apply it. Once applied it sits on the lip, creating a long lasting, non-sticky coating on the lip whilst nourishing the skin beneath.

I have been using the mask myself over the past few weeks and have to say it has been an enjoyable experience. My lips aren’t particularly chapped at the moment so I can’t comment on the soothing, healing properties however I have seen the odd crispy patch disappearing. Within a few minutes of application I also noticed a distinct reduction in the fine lines on the lip – this appears to last for a couple of days although sadly they don’t continue to diminish on repeated use.

Available in three shades Clear, Champagne (a rose gold pearl) and Smashed (a sheer candy apple red). I have only tried the clear mask as I felt that was the safest option first time around but I would definitely be interested to see how the others look on the lip when I get the opportunity.

Have you tried any lip masks?
