I thought I would round November off with a fun and frivolous post about advent calendars; more specifically beauty advent calendars. Before I begin I thought I’d ask, when did they actually become a thing? I think I only really discovered their existence a couple years ago so I would be interested to hear if anyone knows when they first came into existence and which was the first brand to do it? If you know/remember then please get in touch.
I love the idea of a beauty advent calendar however I’ve have never had one. I’ve certainly never treated myself to one, nor I might add has anyone ever bought me one despite me purchasing an organic chocolate one for a certain someone every year for the past 18 years… (you can say it… ahhhh). Bitter? Me..? ;)
With December less than a week away, I thought I would look at five natural and organic beauty advent calendars which have caught my eye this year – don’t worry, I won’t share the contents and spoilt the surprise!
Nature’s Collection Advent Calendar – Weleda (£34.95)
This visually stunning Twelve Day of Christmas Calendar (designed to be opened between Christmas and New Year) is sure to delight anyone – Weleda lover or otherwise. Containing a selection of (twelve) travel sized and large sample sized bodycare products from across the difference collections, including some old favourites (I won’t mentioned which ones). The calendar itself has been designed by decorative glass designer Emma Britton as part of a collaboration with Weleda for the Gifted From Nature Christmas collection. The calendar which depicts many flowers and plants key to many of the products, captures the essence of The Field, the 13 acre area of land on which Weleda grow many of the ingredients used in their medicinal products.
Joy of Advent – Dr Hauschka (£85.00)
Dr Hauschka was one the first organic brands to be a permanent fixture of my pro kit a decade or so ago and it still plays its part to this day. The advent calendar is actually a bright red box which contains twenty-four (suitably christmasy) organic cotton drawstring sacks, each containing something from the Dr. Hauschka range. The gifts are a selection of larger sample and small travel sized mini’s from across the skin and body care collections.
Green Regime Beauty Calendar – Green People (£75.00)
The first ever beauty calendar from Green People, as with the Weleda one this is a Twelve Days of Christmas calendar as opposed to an advent one. This vibrant box of boxes contains fifteen products from across the skin, haircare and make-up ranges. Alongside the selection of travel sized versions of some of their bestsellers are three full sized make-up products! The contents of the box is worth £125.00.
12 Days of Cleaner Beauty – Holland & Barrett (£35.00)
This Twelve Days of Christmas calendar contains an array of customer favourites from Health Retailer Holland & Barrett. The pretty pink box links back to the Cleaner Beauty Campaign the company ran earlier this year and contains a selection of hair, skin and bodycare products which are all travel sized. Not only do you get the products but Holland & Barrett have also included vouchers for a range of seasonal offers on the inside of the doors which can be redeemed online or in store.
2018 Advent Calendar – Susanne Kaufmann (£110.00)
Last but not least is this simply designed advent calendar from luxury organic cosmetics brand Susanne Kaufmann. Now I haven’t tried any of the products in this range but certainly on paper it looks to be amazing! Filled with twenty four indulgent hair and bodycare products which, housed in little glass jars, are designed to nourish and pamper you throughout the run-up to Christmas day.
Have you ever had a beauty calendar?
