Nourish Cleansing Melt – Botanicals

I love a cleansing balm. There is something quite wonderful about the experience of working them into the skin by hand, feeling them melt and do their thing – far more satisfying than a run of the mill cleansing lotion.

I received a jar of Botanicals Nourish Cleanse Melt (£26.00/£50.00) a few weeks ago and before I had even tried it I knew I was on to winner judging by the scent alone.

With an intoxicating blend of rose, lavender, rose geranium, palmarosa and ylang ylang oils, it’s was hard to get beyond the opening of the jar but after I’d got over the beautiful scent (this was the very product I was thinking of when I wrote about taking the time to smell your products in my Mindful Beauty post last month), my thoughts turned to what it was actually like on the skin!

Nourish Cleanse Melt is a Soil Association certified organic deep-cleansing balm designed for all skin types but with dry or mature skins specifically in mind. Formulated using a mixture of Shea Butter, Virgin Coconut Oil and Sesame Seed Oil, the balm is designed to penetrate the skin’s lower layers, dissolving make up and lifting impurities leaving the skin feeling nourished, soft and hydrated.

As with all cleansing balms it is simple to use and can be used daily; simply remove a small amount from the jar (they suggest pea sized although I tend to use a little more than this) and melt between your fingers before massaging it gently into the skin using circular motions. To remove, dampen a flannel or muslin cloth with warm water and gently  wipe over the face.

Nourish Cleanse Melt is a particularly lightweight balm on the skin. I generally favour a weighty balm which I feel is really going to get in there and do some hard work but this does seem to do the job. It takes a little work to fully remove mascara – I still seem to wake the following morning with a little panda eye (personally I’m not adverse to that but I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea) but everything else seems to come off with ease. Post balm the skin feels plumper, super soft and super, super smooth.
