Green People Volumising Mascara

P1050508After many years of wearing (mostly Dr Hauschka) navy, I have over the past year or so become a convert to black mascara. This in part was caused by the mountain of black tubes that had built up in my to test bag – OK, maybe not an actual mountain but certainly a steep hill.

On completion of my last tube (of Neal’s Yard Lengthening mascara) I decided I fancied a change and chatted possibilities with fellow Make-up Artist Lilian. She suggested I give the Green People mascara a go; I hadn’t tried this for years and so was up for revisiting it.

Green People Volumising Mascara in Black (£15.50 from Green People)

Designed to Volumise, condition and lengthen; the outcome is lashes that certainly appear slightly longer and are definitely a litter fuller – this I guess can be attributed to the Cellulose Micro Spheres which bulk out. I can’t honestly comment on the conditioning properties as have only just stopped using my Jane Iredale Lash conditioner underneath the mascara and so have a bit of headway on this front – I will keep an eye on the progress of my lashes over the coming months to see how I get on.

Colour wise, natural pigments give a black which is soft and flattering, not hard or inky. From a consistancy perspective, this mascara is a lot drier than many natural mascaras and can clump a little on the wand, however a little wipe will remove most of the excess product.

The wear is pretty good; it lasts all day with little to no flaking. Although not waterproof it does seem remarkably stubborn when it comes to removal; I find I usually have a bit of a residual panda eye on waking the following morning despite (mostly) using an eye make-up remover – I like a little smudging under the eye so it’s not a problem for me.

The brush is one of those flexible plastic jobbies with neat rows of tapered spokes. This is for me is the only negative I can find in this mascara – if only because I seem to have a tendency to spike myself with these more so than with traditional bristle brushes.

Have you tried the Green People mascara? Does it work for you?
