When it comes to my own nails I am more than a little naughty. I don’t have an established routine for keeping them neatly manicured – in fact they are rarely manicured at all! I am hard on my hands and apart from the odd slathering of hand cream, nail trim and coating of polish, they get pretty much left alone to withstand the abuse…
I am a big fan of Fresh Therapies Eden Nail Polish Remover and so when an unexpected little bottle of Nourishing Nail Elixir (£11.95) arrived in the post, I was looking forward to giving it a go.
Being a very hands-on person, my nails are generally the last thing I think of. I (possibly weirdly) will treat myself to the occasional pedicure but won’t waste money on a mani – because I know the results won’t last more than a day or two! It’s bad I know but as long as they look clean and tidy I am reasonably happy.
Nourishing Nail Elixir is a little bottle of sunshine yellow goodness (the picture above doesn’t do the colour justice). Created to nourish and condition nails and cuticles and to help regenerate new cell growth, the Elixir is packed full of jojoba and apricot oils. This blend of oils is ideal for all skin types and can really benefit those with psoriasis and eczema; I suffer from both and also have intermittent psoriasis of the nail – not seriously but enough to give my nails a mildly pitted appearance from time to time.
As soon as you remove the pipette style lid the slightly spicy but sweet scent of neroli washes over you. Beautifully scented with organic Neroli and Frankincense essential oils (both of which have antiseptic properties) combined with the woody warmth of Rosemary Leaf Extract, the smell lingers on your fingers well after application.
A single drop of the elixir on the base of the nail and a gentle massage into the nail bed, cuticles, nails and tips of the fingers and voila! There is a brief (and I do mean brief) feeling of an oily film on your nails and finger tips but keep working it in and this transforms into a much more pleasant sensation; Fingertips feel soft and nails smooth.
Initially I only applied the elixir once a day; as I was settling down to sleep. The result wasn’t overly noticable on my soft, bendy but dry nails, so I decided to give my nails a few applications over the course of an evening and repeat for a few days; two or three days later and there was a very noticable difference. My nails felt smoother and look in significantly better condition and they definitely have a glossy sheen to them that wasn’t there before. Nothing else has changed about my life within the same time frame (with the exception of becoming another year older) so I can only put it down to this little bottle.
Using regularly over the course of a day has shown results and so it is obviously the way to go – for me at least. As my lack of regular nail routine may make it difficult to instil this into my life on a daily basis I will make the effort to apply it as often as possible and certainly be purchasing bottle once I run out in the next couple of weeks – no, make that two as I will also be including a bottle in my pro nail kit!

Fresh Therapies Elixir is still by far and away my favourite nail product and one which still gets regularly used both by my (I have a bottle next to my bed) and those I work on (I have a bottle in my nail kit).
I think I pretty much much summed it all up in my original post and little more needs to be said, so if you are wanting to improve th condition of your nails then this little bottle should definitely be on your list of products under consideration!
