On the downhill now, this month natural and organic make-up brands beginning with O…
Who Are They? A much loved British brand, Oblique (formally Essential Care) was founded by Margaret and Colin Weeds and their daughter Abi in 2003. You can read more about them in my Behind The brand post.
Eco-Credentials: Soil Association certified organic, many of their ingredients are fairly traded, some vegan options. There is also a long list of ingredients what Odylique avoid – you can find it here.
The Products: From a make-up perspective, the Odylique range is pretty small; a selection of eye and lip products (and a couple of concealers) however the shades they have a lovely. The eyeshadows seem to be inspired by the colours that occur in nature and the lipsticks mostly fruity – in name and colour!
Favourite Products: I love pretty much every Odylique product I have tried and many of them have appeared on here! From a make-up perspective my favourites are the Gold eyeshadow, the mascara and pencil eye liners – all of which can be found on here.
Who Are They? Founded in 2005 in Napa, California, 100% Pure are natural make-up company using plant based pigments.
Eco-Credentials: Free of artificial colors, artificial fragrances, synthetic chemical preservatives; products are pigmented using fruits and vegetables; 100% natural.
The Products: A range of face, lip, eye and cheek products which are relatively neutral in colour. The bases seem to be predominantly suited to those at the fair to medium end of the skin tone spectrum. In terms of price they sit somewhere in the lower end of the middle.
Favourite Products: 100% Pure have been on my radar for a long while however they aren’t stocked in the UK but shipped in from mainland Europe, consequently I haven’t tried any of the products – as yet… Let me know if you have tried any of them and how you got on.
Who Are They? Organic Glam are the make-up arm of The Organic Pharmacy, the organic beauty brand who’s products are based on homeopathic and herbal medicine.
Eco-Credentials: Products are mostly 95-99.9% organic; No artificial preservatives, fragrances and colorants; ingredients are locally sourced where possible and some are fairly traded.
The Products: A luxury make-up range, Organic Glam have a collection which covers pretty much all the bases in terms of products (I don’t believe they have a primer but that the only omission I can think of). The range has a sophisticated, grown-up appeal with mostly classic, elegant shades.
Favourite Products: I’ve tried much of the Organic Glam range over the years and like the pieces I’ve tried; my favourites are the Photo Finish Pressed Powder and the concealer quads are lovely – if a little sheer.
