To celebrate this years Organic Beauty & Wellbeing Week, I am writing about five products which I believe should be amongst the first you look to change if you are wanting to switch to a clean beauty regime. I will be offering up a few suggestions for Soil Association alternatives for those of you who are going organic for the first time.
First up, Body Lotion.
Although Body Lotion isn’t something I generally write about on this blog,it does feature in my kit and is one of the first products I believe should be looked at when wanting to green-up your beauty products.
Conventional body lotions are more often than not packed full of a myriad of synthetic and heavily processed ingredients which if truth be told (and you may well be surprised but his), our bodies don’t actually need – despite what manufacturers tell you! Polyethylene Glycol (PEG), Paraben’s, Mineral Oil, synthetic fragrances are all ingredients which are commonly found in body lotions and other beauty products, however there is research which indicates some of these may have negative effects on the body.
Your skin is the largest organ and your body (rather than face and neck) accounts for the largest surface area of it. Much of what we put onto our body is absorbed into it so using an organic product makes perfect sense.
Here are my suggestions, whatever you are looking for.
If you have dry, sensitive or irritated skin try…
A rich and deeply hydrating body cream, perfect for dry skin and those with very sensitive skin or who suffer from Eczema and Psoriasis. It has a beautiful, comforting aroma of Jasmine and Orange Peel Oils.
If you are looking for a luxury experience try…
Bamford Jasmine Body Cream (£38.00)
A rich, hydrating body cream which encourages cell renewal. A warming an uplifting scent thanks to Bamford’s blend of jasmine, orange blossom and cedarwood.
If body lotion just ain’t your thing then try…
Made for Life Softening Body Oil (£29.00)
The perfect all rounder, this oil has a blend of organic herbs and flowers, combined with sweet almond and wheatgerm oils to soften, hydrate and nourish your skin. Vitamins D and E nourish and repair your skin and green mandarin helps to improve elasticity.
