Pop’s of colour were cropping up on the catwalks of the Spring 2017 collections and so throwing back to June 2014 this month, this one from the vault is about an eyeshadow which is not only perfectly apt but still in my personal make-up bag to this day…
Purple eyeshadow was everywhere earlier this year (and in 2017!) and although some of the shadow quads available on the high street were for me slightly reminiscent of the 1980’s, I still thought they were great. But what do you do if you love the idea of following a trend but can’t quite summon up the courage to take the plunge and live in a purple haze…?
If violent purples aren’t for you, then Pretty Purple Eyeshadow from Kjaer Weis (£32.00/£20.00) is a much softer option may be just for you. Perfect for adding a subtle touch of colour to your eye make-upA beautiful muted purple with delicate purple and pink irridencent particles, it doesn’t look overly purple-y or sparkley, making it a great shadow to wear to work during the day or to add a slight twist to a traditional smokey eye. KW eyeshadows are all design ed to work with any skin tone, on me the shadow comes out as more of a mauve toned taupe (see below), however it does seem to vary from person to person.
Pretty Purple, like all Kjaer Weis shadows builds up well and although this is most definitely a powder shadow, there is a slightly creaminess on blending, making it easy to apply and blend with other shades.
I have said it before but I will say it again, the packaging is beautiful. Designed as a refillable system, you can just purchase refills of these shadows and store them in a palette, however these solid metal alloy cases are design classics and something that, in my mind should be invested in when you buy your first KW product. It’s silly I know, but I can’t bare to put my KW compacts in my kit for fear of scratching them…

And I still can’t – plus they would be so blooming heavy to carry! All my KW products are in customisable make-up palettes for just this reason.
I love all the Kjaer Weis eyeshadows I’ve tried and this one is still amongst my favourites. If you aren’t feeling bold enough for a a bright purple shadow then this is a definite option. It looks great everyone although on green eyes it looks amazing!
It did go missing for a short while after being nabbed by once of my so-called besties (herself green-eyed) but it was returned to its rightful owner in the end…
