Lip Glosses aren’t a product that get a lot of love on here. Historically I tended to eschew glosses as the main event when it comes to lip colour, generally favouring a glossy lipstick and simply rely on them more for adding pinpoint shine where needed.

  • Interesting post, and I like that as a make-up artist you are promoting natural make-up. I’ve seen the Ilia brand dotted about so I’m glad you shared one of their products. I don’t tend to wear a lot of lip glosses, but they can look very flattering on the lips. :-) xx

Thanks for getting in touch Helen and thanks for the support. You are right, they can look lovely, I just don’t have the patience for endless reapplication on myself :)

Sometimes products seem like they have been created for a particular time of year or event. Generally they haven’t but sometimes they just seem to fit. This loose mineral eyeshadow is one such product, perfect for those Christmas and New Years evenings out…

  • Hi,

I really enjoyed your review. What kind of pencil/color did you use under the lipgloss to make it look softer and give the lip the lovely glow? Did you use the pencil on the entire lip or just to outline?

I have an PHB ethical beauty lipgloss in rasberry and one in mulberry and I don’t get along with them as the color looks too “extreme” and too shiny on me. But after reading the review I would really like to try this shade if it gets back in stock.

Thank you for helping out. :)ReplyCancel

      Hi
      Thanks for getting in touch.
I”ve used a few different pencils under the gloss – Nude ones such as the one by Lavera. I generally fill the whole lip rather than lining as it ensures colour lasts on the lip a little longer. The glow comes from the gloss itself (rather than the pencil) as it has a slight shimmer.
I haven’t tried the other shades so I can’t comment on these I’m afraid, but this one is lovely and I’m open to trying more of them.
      I hope this helps

We’re cracking on through my alphabetical list of clean, green make-up brands. Sadly the letter F only brings up one company so this one is short and sweet.

You get them at cultbeauty! So far I ve tried the Eye soot and the sheer lipstick in Datura. Kove the lipstick, it has a beautiful herbal scent and the texture is a little bit heavier than most sheer lipsticks i ve tried.
Thanks for all your lovely postsReplyCancel

I was recently asked by Imelda Burke, founder of the wonderful store which is Content which product would be my dersert island must-have item of make-up. Easy for a Make-up Artist right? Believe it or not, this was a tough question and it took quite some time for me to whittle it down..

Over the past couple of weeks summer has been out in force here in the UK and although its been fantastic to see a bit of sun, these heady temperatures aren’t too good for make-up. To help combat the melting, I thought I should revisit and update a post which I wrote way back in 2013 (I still remember writing […]
